Are “Facebooking” and “Tweeting” the new major trend in dangerous driving distractions? Some transportation safety advocates say yes. Many people access their social media pages via mobile devices even while driving, which like texting while driving, increases their risk of having a serious automobile accident.
Recently, investigators determined that a fatal car accident in Wisconsin was caused by a woman who had been chatting on Facebook when the crash occurred. The fatal wreck led to the deaths of the woman’s 11-year-old daughter and two nieces, who were both five years old at the time.
